- The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) was established in accordance with the Energy Commission Act, 1997 (Act 541) and the Volta River Development (Amendment Act) Act, 2005 (Act 692), which provides for the establishment and exclusive operation of the national interconnected transmission system by an independent utility company.
GRIDCo is now operational and intends to expand its substation at Tafo by breaking into the existing Akosombo – Nkawkaw 161kV transmission line.
The Ghana Grid Company now invites sealed Tenders from eligible Tenderers for the design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the facilities and associated civil works breaking in of the 161 kV Akosombo - Nkawkaw Transmission Line.
Tendering is open to only eligible domestic Ghanaian owned Companies registered with the Registrar General’s Department of Ghana as defined in the Guidelines of the Public Procurement Act of the Republic of Ghana. Non-Ghanaian Companies are not eligible to tender.
The brief of the scope of works are as detailed below:
(a) Tafo Substation Expansion Works
 Breaking into and terminating the Akosombo – Nkawkaw line at Tafo Substation to provide Akosombo – Tafo and Tafo – Nkawkaw Transmission Line sections.
 Provision of relevant switchgear including 161kV dead tank circuit breakers, 161kV centre break motorized and manual break disconnect switches and others with earthing switches for the complete operation of the substation.
(b) Akosombo and Nkawkaw Substations
The works under these substations includes the re-configuration of the protection panels at Akosombo and Nkawkaw Substation to look at Akosombo – Tafo and Nkawkaw – Tafo
